Our Campaigns

It was on May 18, 2013, that NoToDogMeat started to gain global attention. On the first ‘World Awareness Day’ about the dog and cat meat trade we took to the streets in more than 36 towns and cities. Our aim was to highlight and tell truths about this cruel trade and dispel the myths about it.

So many people we met in London on that day could not believe that people on some countries were still eating dogs and cats.

In the UK, because of a legal loophole, eating dogs is not banned.

Since then, we have campaigned online with Twitter (now X) storms and with petitions. Our supporters have organised and joined in with numerous events, including attending and raising awareness at dog shows, running in the London Marathon, climbing Kilimanjaro, and hosting a ‘London Loves Dogs” fashion show involving our rescued animals.

Some of NoToDogMeat’s other key actions:

  • raising debate in the UK parliaments about the dog and cat meat trade,
  • presenting petitions to embassies, the World Health Organisation, and world leaders,
  • letter-writing campaigns to ministries of agriculture, the World Organisation for Animal Health, and officials with the power to bring about change, and
  • implementing education and animal welfare programmes in countries where the dog and cat meat trade exists.

We encourage all animal lovers to follow our social media pages, where we regularly publish actions you can do.

On our blog, we provide updates about our achievements in banning this trade.

Please support us in urging the World Health Organisation to declare these animals unfit for human consumption.
