Cat Welfare

Cat Welfare

Millions of cats become victims of the dog and cat meat trade every year. Strays are rounded up and sent in packed trucks through China down to the southern states and across the border to Vietnam.

In Vietnam, cats are plunged into boiling water to remove their fur and are made into soup. They are sold as a delicacy – ‘little tiger’.

In South Korea and Vietnam cats are also cruelly used for ‘traditional medicine’. See our report on black cats (link), where we explain the horrific practice of skinning black cats and crushing up their bones.

Our mission is to educate and teach good welfare practices, including neutering the stray cat population.

We lobby governments to raise awareness about the cruelty cats suffer in the dog and cat meat trade and push for a ban on fur importation and an end of practices based on outdated beliefs about the use of cats for unproven health benefits.
